To connect your MetaCentrum home storage to applications or your own deployments, you need to generate specific objects. We provide a website to simplify this process, where you can generate SSH secrets for accessing storage servers or directly usable PVCs to access the common brno-12 storage within our Kubernetes cluster.
Currently, you can create two types of objects:
- SSH keys for accessing SSHFS or connecting via SSH to our servers, saved as Kubernetes Secrets
- PVCs that represent your
brno-12home storage and can be directly connected to applications
To create these objects, visit https://storagesecrets.cloud.e-infra.cz/.
Requirements before use
To use this service, you must be part of the META kerberos realm—simply put, you must have a MetaCentrum account.
In addition to being in the correct realm, you also need your kerberos name associated with your Rancher account. This association should happen automatically upon login to Rancher, but is a recent addition. You may need to log out and back into Rancher at https://rancher.cloud.e-infra.cz.
It may take up to 5 minutes for your kerberos name to be associated with your Rancher account, so please wait before trying to access the site again.
Using the site
The site provides a form where you can select what type of object to create and which server to access.
At the bottom of the site is a namespace selector, where you should select a namespace where the generated objects will be saved. If you don’t know what a namespace is or need a quick refresher, you can find more information here.
After clicking the “Submit” button, your secrets are generated and saved to your selected namespace. You can use the Rancher UI to access your secrets and view their contents.
What to use the secrets for
For example, you can use the Samba secret when launching a MATLAB application to use your home directory on storage-brno12-cerit.metacentrum.cz as persistent storage.
